Whether you’re new to social media, or an old hat who remembers the halcyon days of Myspace, there are some things you can do to be more connected with your fellow RCI members and to help RCI get our message out. If you already have an account on any social network, the first step is done.
The next step is to “follow” RCI on any platform where you have an account. Below are some helpful links.
Now that you’re a follower, there are three simple things you can do to help RCI:
Like, Comment, and Share.
Yep, it’s that easy.
You see, every time you “like” a post, that boosts the post’s visibility within the network. It varies from network to network, but across the boards, a post that has more interaction will get seen by more people. The Facebook help page says, “The number of comments and likes a post receives and what kind of story it is (ex: photo, video, status update) can also make it more likely to appear in your News Feed.” So, if you want to make sure you see updates from RCI, interact with updates from RCI.
This may mean that for a while after you follow RCI, you want to head back to our pages using the links above so that you are guaranteed to see the content. It might not immediately appear in your stream, especially if you have a lot of friends/contacts/followers.
You can also tag us with your own content. Is your chapter hosting something cool, and it’s on your chapter website or FB page? Tag us. Did your company win an award for something building-envelope related? We want to know. We want to support our members, just as you support us. If you are posting something to social media and you want to make sure we don’t miss it, you can always email the director of all things social media, Katey Springle Lempka. She likes getting email.
